Go Blonde and Stay Blonde – Tips for Home Hair Care

Go Blonde and Stay Blonde – Tips for Home Hair Care

Although we have to agree that blondes do have more fun, it’s not exactly the case when it comes to hair maintenance. Contrary to the popular opinion, blondes aren’t as footloose and fancy-free when it comes to maintenance and keeping their colour on point at all times.

If you want to get more mileage on your colour, we’ve got the ultimate tips and tricks to keep your colour in tip-top shape like this babe below .

Blonde-Specific Shampoo

This is one of the golden rules for all blondes. Being a blonde means you have to use special products, other mortals can’t use. Blonde-specific shampoos are going to help you maintain the original colour in between your appointments, plus your grow-out won’t seem so dramatic. Grab a toning conditioner and use I at least once a week to keep the colour as fresh as possible.

Strengthen It

It’s also essential to nurture your hair, by hydrating it and strengthening your mane with products. This enables you to prepare for your next treatment and avoid further damage. If you don’t take extra measures like using a hair masque, strengthening spray on your hair, you’ll end up having no hair at all to coat with your favourite blonde shade.

Less Heat

Avoid using hot tools on your hair every day. Give your hair and tools a break.  The curling iron, flat iron and hair dryer can all take a short holiday, and give your strands a chance to soak in the moisture and become healthier and shinier. If you do have to wash and blow dry your hair every day, put your blow dryer on a cooler setting.

Clarifying Shampoo

You’ll be relieved to know that this shampoo can return to your arsenal every few weeks. This keeps your colour radiant and fresh, and removes all impurities and ‘stains’ from your hair, so your blonde is never dull, but fantastic.

Minimise Washing

We’re not suggesting not washing your hair if you’re not in the salon. Dirty hair is a big no-no, especially if you’re a blonde. Skip the everyday wash, and grab yourself a dry shampoo. Not only are you going to extend your wash for a day, you’re also going to avoid blow drying and heating your hair. It’s just like hitting two birds with one stone.

Avoid the Sun

If you know you’re going to be in the sun for a long time, since it is the summer and we can’t blame you if you want to get your tan on, make sure to cover your hair with a cute hat or a scarf. Whatever floats your boat. The sun can lighten your colour, make it brassy and not to mention suck the moisture out of it.

Simply getting a great colour job doesn’t mean your colour is going to be perfection all the way until  your next visit. If you’re counting on that, then you have a champagne taste on a beer budget! Cut a dash with your golden locks every time you go out of your home, even in between salon sessions. Being a blonde can cost you a penny or two, but it’s worth it. Ask us in salon which products we recommend personally for you or shoot us an email.
