How to detangle your hair without breakage

If you’ve just read our “How To: Rosie Huntington Whiteley blog” you would have seen one of her hair tips.

"I'm told that your hair is at its weakest when it's wet so I always like to put a little bit of leave-in conditioner in or detangler before I put a brush through it,” says Rosie.

Breakage and split ends can mean frizzy hair, lack of volume and a not so perfect wave. To avoid split ends and breakage it’s important to follow the following hair tips.

Tip 1:

Use the right brush, especially if your hair is wet. A wide tooth comb or a specially designed paddle brush is best.

Tip 2:

Apply a hair oil to help detangle without the struggle. We love the Kevin Murphy Young Again Oil, available in the viva la blonde salon Perth or North Fremantle.

Tip 3:

Section your hair to help avoid breakage. Brushing your hair from roots to ends is the quickest way to damage your strands. Start at the bottom and work your way up, that way when you reach the roots it’s a smooth ride down.

Tip 4:

Use a silk pillow slip. We’ve said it once, and will say it again, invest is a silk pillow slip. Silk is smooth in texture which helps your hair glide over it without any friction. This means you'll be less likely to wake up with frizzy hair, tangles, or bedhead. A cotton pillowcase can cause your hair to snag overnight.

Tip 5:

Treat your hair to a moisturiser mask every week. This is super important in Summer when you are spending copious amounts of time at the beach or in the sun.

Check out the Evo Great Hydrator Moisturiser Mask here. This mask is a hydrating treatment to moisturise and smooth your blonde hair; we use this in salon and is one of our best sellers.
